Born and brought up in Mumbai, we many a time face language dilemas. This one is so real!
My grandma all of 94 years old has issued a dikhat to me at home. That I should use Konkani (our mother tongue) at all times at home. "No English" is the new mantra!
Needless to say, it elicted a multitude of laughter, much to her consternation. Her arguement is that our forefathers have spoken the language and we have originated from the Konkan region of Maharashtra and hence we should always adhere to speaking the language.
I asked her why has she become a pseudo-fan of Raj Thackeray. Her response was "Raj who?".
